This month at Front Row, we've been working hard on helping teachers differentiate both what and how students learn. That's why this month's updates include tons of new content of different types, a whole new practice mode, and improvements that will make it easier for teachers to deliver the right lesson to each student!
ELA Skills Practice
ELA Skills Practice is a completely new way for 3rd-8th grade students to practice reading comprehension and master anchor skills! In this practice mode, students work on anchor skills through a series of short, nonfiction reading passages and comprehension questions.
As students answer questions correctly in each skill area, they can see their progress represented by a building that's under construction.
You can learn more about ELA Skills Practice in this blog post.
Financial Literacy domain for grades K-8
There's now a whole new math domain for you and your students: Financial Literacy! The domain includes 52 standards that range from Kindergarten to 8th-grade level, including:
- Earning Income
- Simple and Compound Interest
- The Cost of College
- Financial Responsibility
- And more!
We hope these standards will help grow your students' practical math skills and their understanding of personal finance.
New ELA articles
There are now 75 new adaptive ELA articles for your students to read, including:
- The Moon
- Joan of Arc
- The 14th Dalai Lama
- And 70 more!
Like all of our ELA articles, each one is available in at least four reading levels. You can see the full list here.
Math standards page
You can now see details on all math standards in each domain with the new Standards page! That means you're able to effortlessly align Front Row to your curriculum without spending time hunting around in the program for the right lesson.
You can view a list of all standards in a domain, drill down to get a description and sample questions for each standard, and assign practice on a standard from this page.
Note: This is currently available for teachers using Common Core standards, but it will be available for all teachers within the next few weeks.
New Social Studies and Science videos
There are now over 20 new videos in the Social Studies and Science unit library in Front Row. We hope these videos will enhance your classroom time and help you differentiate the way your students learn the material!
ELA pre-test updates
After hearing feedback from some teachers that their students' pre-test results placed them at the wrong level, we've made some changes to the ELA pre-test to more accurately pinpoint students' starting level.
This will make it easier for teachers to ensure their students are working on the material that's right for them!
